Discover Park Bench’s Unique Sizing Concept

Real women come in all sizes and shapes. Generally we think of ourselves as being a “certain size.” For example, a size 6-12-22 or S-M-L, etc. In reality, few of us are that size all over. I understand this and I don’t try to PUT YOU INTO A BOX.
The average woman is 5’4″ tall, weighs 140 pounds, is over 40 and wears a size 14. PARK BENCH patterns start out all one size — a standard size 14 through the neck and shoulders. In an unstructured design we only vary about 1/2″ on each side in the width of our shoulders. All other sizing adjustments are done in the side seams and all of these designs can be made SMALLER OR LARGER — quickly and easily!
Instead of trying to follow graded lines for the size you think you fit into, I give you the actual tape measure size of the pattern at the stitch line. Each pattern is designed to have at least 6-10″ of wearing ease. These are not close-fitted tailored designs.
The patterns can be sized smaller or larger very easily. I have designed all of the PARK BENCH patterns to look good on “real ladies with real figures.” There are very few pattern pieces to work with so sewing is quick and size adjustments are very easy.
Also, to make fitting even more simple, you sew up the shoulder seams first and then do an “ON-THE-BODY” fitting before you sew up the side seams. This way you can see how the garment is fitting and the fabric is draping. You can readjust the fit as needed each time you use the pattern.
For example: For a soft fabric with a lot of drape you may want a lot of wearing ease because the fabric drapes with your body. For a fabric with more body and less drape you may not want as much ease because the fabric stands away from your body and you appear larger than you really are.
With this “ON-THE-BODY” fitting you can see this before you have finished the garment. You make adjustments before sewing. Also you can see if you may need darts and where to put them. Even pants will be a dream to make! You also do an “ON-THE-BODY” fitting before sewing side seams or finishing.
