Pattern #20
Description
Get out your fabric scraps and create something special. This wrap skirt is made from 13 straight pieces of fabric — cut and sewn on the STRAIGHT OF GRAIN. Each piece ranges from 1/4 to 5/8 yard. The interesting thing about this design is that when all the pieces are sewn together and a waist band is added — the skirt hangs on the bias with hem shorter in front, longer in back. This gives the skirt great movement. The strips angle and change direction as they wrap around your body. Great visual design!
The vest is a loose boxy shape with an asymmetrical hem. The length can be left short or cut longer.

Yardage
Note: You can cut these strips with the fabric grain or cross grain if the fabric does not stretch. Larger sizes may need more fabric. Check cutting layout to help you calculate yardage needed. |

Sizing
This is a wrap skirt so waist adjustment will be easy — just move the button. If you need to adjust the amount of wrap or length, you will find a diagram in the instructions telling you where to add or subtract.
The vest will size smaller or large by moving the side seams.
This pattern sizes from small to XXLarge.
Fabric Suggestions
When picking fabric there are really only two things to remember: the heavier, stiffer, and less drape the fabric has, the farther it will stand out from your body; and lighter weight fabric with soft drape will hang closer to your body. Pick fabrics that are all about the same weight and drape for your skirt.
For the vest, you will need fabric with soft to medium drape. The vest is designed for 8" – 10" of wearing ease.
