Willow Grove

Pattern #22

Description

The word "apron" has taken on a whole new meaning. These "aprons" have moved up and now look like something you would find in a trendy boutique or pricey specialty catalog.

Apron 1: Bib has wide shoulder straps, front bib, and waistband that buttons comfortably in back. The A-line skirt has large "cowl" or draped pockets for unexpected detailing.

Apron 2: Button has wide pleated straps that attach at the sweetheart neckline. The A-line skirt is wide with large pleated-bottom patch pockets. Front buttons add extra detailing.

Apron 3: Wrap goes over the head and then wraps from back to front to button. There are large pockets and a large center back pleat to ensure a nice movement.

All three aprons make great sun dresses worn over a t-shirt and skinny pants. Also included in the pattern is a very nice long sleeve A-line dress with interesting sleeve detailing and optional tie and tucks. The aprons all fit over this dress to create a jumper ensemble.

Sizing

The aprons are designed to have 10" – 12" of wearing ease, while the dress is designed to have 6" – 10" of wearing ease. Most size adjusting will be done in the side seams after you do your "on the body" fitting, before you sew up the side seams.

This pattern will adjust from small to XXLarge.

Fabric Suggestions

For the aprons, pick fabric that has medium weight and drape. It needs enough body so that the fabric stands out a little. You want the garment to look happy. Anything too soft and drapey will hang too close and the garment will look doughy.

For the dress, pick fabric with soft to medium weight and drape such as crepe. Knits work well if they are tight and not real stretchy.
