Pattern #7
Description
This 3-piece ensemble is very versatile and can take on many different personalities, depending on the fabric used and embellishments or creative touches added. The jacket is long with roomy dolman-type sleeves and flat band collar. The unlined option is perfect for "make-it-today, wear-it-tonight" sewing. The design has simple clean lines that work well to show off a special fabric. A perfect "basic" to any wardrobe.
Or take a little more time and choose the "loose lining with cording for detailing" option. This is a lined jacket that has the lining attached only at neck and sleeve seams, allowing the lining to hang loose in front and move freely and giving the garment a layered look. Cording is added to the collar band and front edge of the lining to add detailing and increase movement. Large pockets are included. The pull-on skirt with elastic waist has optional cording at the hem. The long tunic top completes the ensemble.

Sizing
This roomy jacket has large dolman type sleeves. Because of the unstructured design, very little sizing adjustment will be needed in the shoulders. Sew in the sleeves, do your "on the body" fitting, and sew up the side seams. It’s as simple as that! Also the sleeves can be cut less full with easy adjustments.
This pattern sizes from small to XXLarge. Great for plus size sewing.
Fabric Suggestions
Almost any type of fabric will work for the jacket. Pick anything from cotton, washed linen, sheer poly, rayon, silk, or wool. Try a cotton t-shirt knit for a better look than the usual sweatshirt — more comforatble and much more flattering. Make it out of lace to wear over a simple dress. Use coat weight wool for a simple unlined and unstructured jacket that fits comfortably over other garments.
A reminder — the sleeves are large and the design is unstructured, so the softer the drape the closer the garment will hang to the body. The hem will hang unevenly; expect this with any unstructured design with large sleeves. With the "loose lining" option pick lining fabric that is lighter than the outside fabric. It should have a silky or smoother finish. You want the two fabrics to move nicely together.
